[00:00:00] Vanessa I: Hi, everyone. Welcome to our new episode of Career Transition. We are your hosts, Vanessa Iloste and Vanessa Teo. The Career Transition podcast is where we explore what it takes to successfully navigate through career transition, no matter which stage of life or career you are at.
[00:00:23] Vanessa T: Vanessa I, can you believe it?
[00:00:25] We are already at the beginning of our third season of the Career Transitions podcast and would like to thank our listeners for their support and loyalty to this show. Without you, we may not have had the motivation to continue recording new episodes every weekend.
[00:00:41] Vanessa I: That's right, Vanessa T. We are very grateful to all the people who support us, the ones we know and the ones we might not know.
[00:00:49] It's extremely heartwarming that our work is benefiting so many people. I'm always touched when I receive all this message of support. It brings me a lot of motivation and I always share it with you, actually.
[00:01:01] Vanessa T: Yeah, you do. And I've also been really encouraged when I read and hear of these messages. So, for Season 3, I'd like to share with our listeners what they can look forward to.
[00:01:12] So we've been on this journey together, a quest for learning for this past year, and we've been determined to continue this journey of learning. Our number one objective was to find out more about what it takes to make successful career transitions, and I believe that we've learned a lot since we started, don't you think?
[00:01:30] Vanessa I: For sure. We have expanded our knowledge as human resources practitioners. And we are able to go beyond our gut feelings. We have learned new models, new frameworks that help us to understand the difficulties or the roadblocks we encounter when we support our talent internally to go through major transition.
[00:01:48] We are better equipped to find solutions to make their journeys easier.
[00:01:53] Vanessa T: That's right. And in the last few months, I have caught myself in the act of using some of the learnings from one of our episodes to support our colleagues and friends. And it can be through a model or a framework, as you said it, and it can also come through in a new way of coaching.
[00:02:08] Vanessa I: It's true. Some of the people have also inspired us with some of their quotes we have used and they stayed with me for a couple of days and I've used them very happily. So Vanessa T, when you told me that you wanted to continue this journey, you shared with me that you wanted to experiment in a real life laboratory.
[00:02:27] Can you tell us more about it? Yeah, I remember that conversation.
[00:02:30] Vanessa T: I remember saying to you that on top of bringing academics, researchers, thought leaders, and people who have gone through transitions, I wanted to see for my own eyes that process of transition happening.
[00:02:43] Vanessa I: That's correct. And I can see you, my dear friend, with all your personality shining here.
[00:02:49] You always had a very keen eye, almost scientific, I would say, to look at issue from all the different angles. You like to dissect the reasons why things work and do not work. Therefore, I was not surprised when I heard you talking about the real life laboratory. To answer your thirst for knowledge, I immediately went to something close to me and it's the ESSEC Business School in Singapore.
[00:03:12] ESSEC is my alma mater, and since I've arrived in Singapore, I've tried my best to contribute by volunteering through different occasions.
[00:03:20] Vanessa T: I love your idea because I personally believe that schools and learning institutions are incredible laboratories to study the concept of continuous learning. What it takes for people to get to know a new idea What takes them to open themselves to it and to apply it in their everyday life?
[00:03:37] Vanessa I: It was quite natural for us to embark on a collaboration with ESSEC Business School Singapore. We are super proud to announce this partnership with them for a few episodes. The idea is to take residents for a couple of hours and to get access to their researchers, their alumni, their thought leaders, and their students.
[00:03:56] Vanessa T: And we want to bring you inside the world of a business school and would like you to witness together with us what it takes to progress, to advance and to do successful career transitions.
[00:04:08] Vanessa I: Vanessa T, you have yourself benefited recently from a post education diploma. Is that right?
[00:04:13] Vanessa T: Yeah, it's true.
[00:04:14] Two years ago, I embarked on a master's program and I have witnessed for myself the energy it took me to learn those new concepts and to progress through new ideas.
[00:04:24] Vanessa I: I've been on your side during these two years and, uh, I could see from my own eyes the way you were glowing through these months. You were so happy and so much alive.
[00:04:34] Let's try to recreate for both of us the magic that you experienced at that time and let's embark all our listeners in this quest for learning.
[00:04:42] Vanessa T: Well, we're really looking forward to Season 3, our collaboration with ESSEC Business School. Thank you everyone for listening to this episode and we're looking forward to a fantastic Season 3.
[00:04:54] Thank you everyone for joining us on this journey.
